Automated Ultrasound Doppler Angle Estimation Using Deep Learning
Published in 41st Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2019
A convolutional model that takes B-mode ultrasound frames and estimates the Doppler insonation angle automatically. Doppler velocity measurements are only meaningful relative to the vessel orientation; removing the manual angle-marking step makes scanning faster and reduces operator-to-operator variance. Validated against expert-labeled angles across a held-out scan set.
